And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people. And his fame went throughout all Syria: and they brought unto him all sick people that were taken with divers diseases and torments, and those which were possessed with devils, and those which were lunatick, and those that had the palsy; and he healed them.
Welcome to my Web site!
I am sure glad you visited. He healed all manner of sickness and all manner of disease, divers diseases and torments.
I believe in modern medicine. I practice modern medicine as an infectious disease specialist and an internist. But I have seen some situations that were hopeless so far as medicine was concerned, literally turn round with prayer and faith. I did not say prayer alone, I said with prayer. In other words you do not stop taking your prescribed treatments, but you launch into the healing power of God to augment what God in his wisdom has allowed scientists to make available to us. You have to allow prayer, faith and healing work together with your faith in medicine.
Let me illustrate with 2 examples from the Bible.
First there was the woman with the issue of blood (mennorrhagia or dysfunctional uterine bleeding). The Word describes that she had spent ALL her money going from one physician to the other. She probably was anemic from all the blood loss. She may have seen her primary care doctor who referred her to a gynecologist, who referred her to see an endocrinologist and so on. She may even have seen an infectious disease doctor like myself. However she heard and saw that Jesus could heal. She built faith in herself and said “If I may but touch his garment I shall be made whole. ” She did. Immediately her bleeding stopped.
Luke 8: 43-48
43 And a woman having an issue of blood twelve years, which had spent all her living upon physicians, neither could be healed of any,
44 Came behind him, and touched the border of his garment: and immediately her issue of blood stanched.
45 And Jesus said, Who touched me? When all denied, Peter and they that were with him said, Master, the multitude throng thee and press thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me?
46 And Jesus said, Somebody hath touched me: for I perceive that virtue is gone out of me.
47 And when the woman saw that she was not hid, she came trembling, and falling down before him, she declared unto him before all the people for what cause she had touched him, and how she was healed immediately.
48 And he said unto her, Daughter, be of good comfort: thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace.
Here is Marks account of the same miracle
Mark 5: 25 -34
25 And a certain woman, which had an issue of blood twelve years,
26 And had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse,
27 When she had heard of Jesus, came in the press behind, and touched his garment.
28 For she said, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole.
29 And straightway the fountain of her blood was dried up; and she felt in her body that she was healed of that plague.
30 And Jesus, immediately knowing in himself that virtue had gone out of him, turned him about in the press, and said, Who touched my clothes?
31 And his disciples said unto him, Thou seest the multitude thronging thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me?
32 And he looked round about to see her that had done this thing.
33 But the woman fearing and trembling, knowing what was done in her, came and fell down before him, and told him all the truth.
34 And he said unto her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace, and be whole of thy plague.
I want to give you some hope. That no matter how dire your situation is, Jesus still heals.
However there was a King in Israel who actually knew God and had accomplished great things with Gods help. Then he fell sick with some disease in his legs. Sadly instead of seeking God in addition to seeking the help of doctors the Bible says he looked ONLY to the physicians of his time. It almost sounded as though he made an effort to avoid asking Gods help for healing. He died.
1 Chronicles 16: 12, 13
12 And Asa in the thirty and ninth year of his reign was diseased in his feet, until his disease was exceeding great: yet in his disease he sought not to the LORD, but to the physicians.
13 And Asa slept with his fathers, and died in the one and fortieth year of his reign.
How did that woman get her healing? First she heard (just as you are reading today) that Jesus could heal and then she believed that that just He had done for others He could for her. She said to herself- If I can touch his garment. She had so much faith that she created her own miracle. Today I want you to build up that kind of faith in Jesus.
Matthew 8: 16, 17
16 When the even was come, they brought unto him many that were possessed with devils: and he cast out the spirits with his word, and healed all that were sick:
17 That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses.
Isa 53:4
Matthew 14: 14 And Jesus went forth, and saw a great multitude, and was moved with compassion toward them, and he healed their sick
Matthew 14: 35, 36 And when the men of that place had knowledge of him, they sent out into all that country round about, and brought unto him all that were diseased; And besought him that they might only touch the hem of his garment: and as many as touched were made perfectly whole
Matthew 15: 30, 31 And great multitudes came unto him, having with them those that were lame, blind, dumb, maimed, and many others, and cast them down at Jesus' feet; and he healed them: Insomuch that the multitude wondered, when they saw the dumb to speak, the maimed to be whole, the lame to walk, and the blind to see: and they glorified the God of Israel.
